Why I Love Christmas

Connection is why I love Christmas. There’s something beautiful about how the majority of the world comes together to celebrate this season, each in their own way.

I get ridiculously excited about it all, like a kid who can barely contain themselves. Walking through the city streets with a hot chocolate or mulled wine in my hands, seeing the lights twinkling everywhere, it just fills my heart completely. Saying Merry Christmas to strangers is a small thing, but it adds to that feeling of unity.

My faith is woven through it all too. The idea that God chose to enter our chaotic, messy world as a vulnerable baby fills me with hope. When everything feels overwhelming, that simple truth reminds me that love has a way of breaking through, even in the darkest places.

I know this season isn’t easy for everyone. For some, it brings debt, loneliness, or sadness, especially when it feels like everyone else is celebrating and happy. That’s why connection and love matter even more. Small moments, shared smiles, and being present with the people around you can make a real difference.

Then there are the traditions we’re building with our children. Watching their faces light up, telling stories, creating memories they’ll carry forever makes everything feel more precious. These moments are what the season is really about.

Christmas gives me permission to pause. To soak in the warmth, joy, and togetherness. To remember what actually matters — the love, the hope, the laughter — instead of getting caught up in all the stuff that doesn’t.

However you celebrate, I hope this season fills your heart with joy and that the year ahead brings you moments that make your heart feel full.
