Cameras make you tense up. You dread the posing, the fake smiles, the being told where to stand. 

You’ve seen those galleries. Perfect pose after perfect pose, and none of it looks like real life.

Most photography pulls you out of your own day. Two hours in and you’re being whisked away for portraits. Your guests are at the bar. Your mum’s waiting. The day starts happening without you.

You want brilliant photos. You just don’t want your day to be about them.

I don’t work from a list of poses. I follow the day and photograph what actually happens.

I’ll borrow you for about fifteen minutes, get some natural couple shots, then you’re back with your people.

Nearly every couple tells me the same thing over that first coffee. We hate having our photos taken.

Then we do the engagement shoot, and something shifts. By the wedding morning I’m not a stranger with a lens. I’m just Steven.

I’ll give you a little guidance, walk this way, heads together, and then I step back. Because the moment I try to create the feeling, it’s gone. The real moments happen on their own, and I’m there when they do.

The first coffee is on me. No contracts until we both know it’s a fit.

Coffee, first

Before any contracts or deposits, we meet for a coffee and a chat. If we click, we book your date. If not, no hard feelings.

Your engagement shoot

A relaxed shoot somewhere that matters to you two. It doubles as practice in front of the camera. And from then on I’m on hand for chats, rants and advice.

Your wedding day

I turn up as a friend, not a vendor. No shot list, no directing, no clock-watching. I follow the day as it unfolds and tell its story. You stay present with your people.

It starts long before the wedding. Coffee first, then an engagement shoot to get comfortable around my camera. By the day itself, I know your people and your plans, and you know how I work.

I cap how many weddings I take a year, so while I’m at yours I’m not thinking about the next one.

Got Questions?

Family group shots, yes. We plan a short list before the day and get them done in about 15 minutes. For couple photos, we slip away from the party for a bit. Ten minutes at golden hour, or half an hour somewhere special, it’s up to you. The rest of the day, I photograph what actually happens.

We meet for a coffee first, on me, so we both know it’s a good fit. Then a 20% deposit and contract secures your date. The rest is due four weeks before the wedding, and payment plans are no bother.

The Full Story is £2,000 with everything included. Other packages start from £1,000. No hourly clock, no hidden extras.

Two weeks. There’s no set number of photos. You get however many it takes to tell the story of your day, each edited naturally, plus a slideshow and online gallery.

Most of my couples are. That’s exactly why the engagement shoot comes first. By the wedding you’ve already done the scary bit, and I’m a familiar face rather than a stranger with a lens.

I’m based in East Kilbride and cover Glasgow, Edinburgh and all of Scotland, plus northern England. We’ll confirm any travel details before you book.
