Heading to Skye: Creative Chaos, Windswept Vows, and Feeling Grateful

One of the many waterfalls on the Isle of Skye - perfect spot for an elopement

This week I’m heading back to Skye for another elopement—and even now, years into doing this, it still feels surreal that this is what I get to do.

Somewhere out there, two people decided to get married in a way that felt right for them—and they chose me to be there, to witness it, and to tell their story through photos. That kind of trust never goes unnoticed.

I’m currently in the usual chaos of trying to pack light—while also making sure I’ve got spare boots, extra snacks, and every bit of kit I might need “just in case.” But underneath the logistics, there’s this quiet excitement that never really fades. Because Skye always brings something different.

The landscape is wild and dramatic—and never the same twice. The way the light hits the hills, the way the mist drifts in and out… even standing in the same spot, it can feel completely new. It’s unpredictable in the best way and has a way of pulling you into the moment.

And that’s what I love most—being invited into something real and honest. Not staged, not perfect, just deeply human. Whether it’s an elopement or a wedding with everyone you love, it’s about presence. And I feel incredibly lucky to be part of that.

I’ll be sharing a few behind-the-scenes moments over on instagram and once I’m back and recovered from the six-hour drive, I’ll be writing up a full post on why I think Skye is one of the most special places in Scotland to get married.

But for now—I’m just feeling thankful. For the journey, the landscapes, and the people who let me walk alongside them for a moment.
