I Got Nominated — and That’s Weirdly Lovely
I’ll be honest — I’ve never chased awards. They’re not why I do this. As a relaxed wedding photographer in Scotland, I care far more about capturing the real stuff — the quiet glances, the daft laughter, the natural moments you don’t need to perform for.
I’m not into turning a wedding day into a styled shoot or staging big dramatic photos just for the portfolio. I blend into the background, let things unfold, and focus on what feels true. Most of the couples I work with choose me because they don’t want to be in the spotlight all day — they just want to be together.
So to be nominated — by actual couples who trusted me to document one of the most meaningful days of their lives — that means a lot.
Not because it’s about recognition in the industry. But because it tells me I must be doing something right by the people I do this for.
I’m not the loudest, trendiest, or most followed photographer out there. But I care deeply. And I work hard to make sure every couple I photograph feels comfortable, looked after, and seen — whether it’s a big celebration or a quiet elopement in the Highlands.
That’s what matters most. And it turns out… that might just be enough.
