How Much Does a Wedding Photographer Cost in Scotland?

How much does a wedding photographer cost in Scotland? Most couples pay between £1,000 and £2,500. With me, a half day is £1,000, a full day is £1,600, and The Full Story is £2,000.

The price follows how much of the day is covered, how long the editing takes, and how much experience sits behind it. Here is what moves it, and when I am not the right choice.

What each price covers with me

PackagePriceWhat it covers
Half Day£1,000Relaxed coverage from the part of the day that matters most to you, a curated slideshow, and your full gallery within two weeks
Full Day£1,600From the quiet morning moments to the evening celebrations, a short window for portraits, a curated slideshow, and your full gallery within two weeks
The Full Story£2,000A relaxed engagement shoot first, then a full day, a curated slideshow, your full gallery within two weeks, and £500 online credit for albums, wall art or prints

Everything is laid out on the investment page. I am based in East Kilbride and photograph weddings across Glasgow, Edinburgh and the rest of Scotland.

Why prices vary so much

Photographers under about £1,000 are often newer to weddings, building a portfolio, or shooting part time. That can work well. Ask to see a full gallery from a real wedding, not a highlights reel. Ask what happens if they are ill on the day, and whether they carry backup equipment and insurance.

The hours you see on the day are the small part. Every photo is chosen and edited by hand afterwards, which can take days. Add professional cameras with backups, insurance, software, storage, and the cost of running a business properly.

Experience is the part you cannot see. It is knowing how to stay out of the way and still catch the moment. It is handling a day that runs an hour late without anyone noticing.

The flowers are gone by the end of the night. The cake gets eaten. The photos are what is left.

What a planner can take off your plate

Photography is one line in a bigger budget. If tracking deposits and payment dates feels like a lot, a planner can carry it. Cat Duthie of Fin Flükra, based near Stirling, plans modern Scottish weddings and manages suppliers and payment schedules for her couples.

I have not worked with Cat yet, but I like her approach to planning.

When I am probably not the right fit

If you have under £1,000 for photography, I am not the right choice. That is fine. Start with a newer photographer and the questions in how to choose your wedding photographer without the stress.

If you want a long shot list of formal poses, my way of working will not suit you either. I photograph what is happening and offer gentle prompts for your portraits.

Wedding photography cost: quick answers

How much do wedding photos cost in Scotland?

Most couples pay between £1,000 and £2,500. My half day is £1,000, my full day is £1,600, and The Full Story is £2,000.

Why do wedding photographers charge so much?

You see the hours on the day. You do not see the days of editing afterwards, the backup cameras, the insurance, or the years of experience behind every photo.

Is a cheaper photographer a bad idea?

Not always. Newer photographers can do lovely work. Ask to see a full gallery from a real wedding, and ask what happens if they are ill on the day.

How much is an engagement shoot or an elopement?

A standalone engagement shoot is £300. Elopement coverage is £850, and you can read more about whether eloping suits you. The Full Story includes an engagement shoot with your full wedding day.

Next step

Before anything is booked, I like to meet. In person if we can, online if that is easier. No pressure, no hard sell.
