Your local wedding photographer.

EAST KILBRIDE IS HOME.

I moved to East Kilbride with my family in 2021, and it’s home now. You’ll often find me walking the dogs round Calderglen, and almost every other week I’m on the keys at East Mains Baptist Church.

Being local makes the run-up to your wedding easier. Meeting up is simple, and there’s no long drive for me on your wedding morning.

That means less rushing on the day, and more time for you to be with your people.

A coffee at Bica, a quick look round your venue, or a walk in the park. No long drives and no big plans. Just a chat.

CLOSE BY
Easy to meet before the day, and no long drive for me on your wedding morning.

LOCAL SPOTS
Calderglen and Chatelherault are right on the doorstep for an engagement shoot.

CALM ON THE DAY
No shot list and no clock-watching. I follow your day as it happens.

Consider me a wedding FRIEND with a camera.

And then you can just be.

Hi, I’m Steven. I’m a documentary wedding photographer, and East Kilbride is home.

Most couples tell me the same thing over that first coffee. We hate having our photos taken. If that’s you, you’re in good company.

I work quietly. I follow the day as it unfolds and photograph what actually happens. The nervous laugh before the ceremony. Your gran on the dance floor. The two of you sneaking a minute alone.

When a little guidance helps, I’ll give it. Then I step back and let you get on with your day.

I take on only a handful of weddings each year, so I can give each one my full attention.

The first coffee is on me. No contracts until we both know it’s a fit.

What it actually looks like

Some galleries now include a little movement too. Short clips alongside the photos, at no extra cost. Just another way to hold onto the day.

CLOSE TO HOME

ON YOUR DOORSTEP

For couples who want their photos to feel like home.

Your wedding brings all your people together in one place. Maybe it’s a venue just down the road, or somewhere you’ve always loved.

These places are part of my week too. Calderglen is where I walk the dogs, and Bica is where I get my coffee.

Picture yourselves a year on. The photos on your wall show the day as it really felt, in the places that mean something to you both.

Twenty years from now, they’ll still take you straight back there.

FAQ

Got Questions?

Family group shots, yes. We plan a short list before the day and get them done in about 15 minutes. Then intentional portraits, fifteen to thirty minutes with off-camera flash, just the two of you. A little guidance, a few prompts, then you’re just yourselves again. The rest of the day, I photograph what actually happens.

We meet for a coffee first, on me, so we both know it’s a good fit. Then a 20% deposit and contract secures your date. The rest is due four weeks before the wedding, and payment plans are no bother.

Couple sharing a quiet moment outside after the ceremony

Half days are £1,000, full days £1,600 and The Full Story is £2,000. No hourly clock, no hidden extras.

A handful of sneak peeks land within 24 hours. Your full gallery is ready within two weeks, with as many photos as it takes to tell your story, each edited naturally. Every couple also gets a private online premiere of their slideshow, with the gallery landing the moment it ends.

Most of my couples are. That’s why I like to meet up before the day, and an engagement shoot helps too if you fancy one. By the wedding I’m a familiar face rather than a stranger with a lens.

More than okay. Lots of my couples are introverts, anxious, or wired a bit differently. Tell me what helps. Knowing the plan in advance, quieter moments, less time in the spotlight. I’ll work around you, not the other way round. Nobody needs to perform.

I live in East Kilbride, so anywhere in Lanarkshire is local for me. Hamilton, Motherwell, Blantyre, Strathaven, Lanark and the south side of Glasgow are all close by. I also cover Edinburgh, the rest of Scotland and northern England. We’ll confirm any travel details before you book.

LET’S GRAB A COFFEE

Tell me a little about your day. You’ll get a quick email to say it’s arrived, then I’ll check my diary and come back to you about your date. The first coffee is on me, somewhere local. No hard sell, and no obligation. If I’m not the right fit, I’ll happily point you towards someone who is.

Coffee, video call or just email. Whatever feels easiest. Don’t have a date booked yet? Still get in touch, I’m happy to chat before anything’s confirmed. Prefer email? hello@steven-mitchell.com works just as well.
